Former Member and People’s National Congress Party candidate, Paru Aihi, continues to maintain lead in the race for the Kairuku-Hiri Open seat.
After count 26, Aihi remains on top with 6,359 votes, just 21 votes ahead of incumbent Member Peter Isoaimo in second place.

PNGNP candidate Henao Iduhu has dropped out of the top five on 3,471, after being in the top five in the previous 20 counts.
Ballot box for count 26 came from the Koiari LLG.
Counting for ballot boxes from the Hiri LLG and Kairuku LLG have been completed.
The progressive total informals after count 26 is 925 and total ballot papers counted so far is 40,172.
