VIDEO: Clashes continue between Iraqi police and IS

Clashes between Iraqi federal police and Islamic State group militants continued until late on Tuesday in the eastern city of Ramadi.

Ramadi is 70 miles (115 kilometres) west of Baghdad.

The clashes erupted in the Husaybah al-Sharqiya area of the city.

In early July the Iraqi military launched a large-scale operation to dislodge militants from Anbar, where the Islamic State group holds most of the biggest cities.

Iraqi government forces recaptured Ramadi's Anbar University in the south of the city from IS group militants late last month.

The Islamic State group captured Ramadi, the provincial capital, in mid-May.
