Public invited to walk to fight cervical cancer

The public in Port Moresby are invited to walk to fight cervical cancer this Saturday morning.

The official program states that the walk will commence at 6am to 7am led by Royal PNG Constabulary and NCD Health Services float followed by partners, stakeholders and the public.

The walk is part of the Cervical Cancer Awareness Campaign organised by National Capital District Health Services (NCDHS).

The theme for the awareness campaign is “Eliminate cervical cancer through HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening”.

Organiser Dr Lutty Amos of NCDHS is inviting the public to be part of this initiative as the walk aims to raise funds to purchase essential medical equipment for the cervical cancer screening clinic on Lawes Road, Konedobu in Moresby.

There’ll be speeches from NCDHS provincial health advisor Dr Gari Ou’u, Governor Powes Parkop and Health Secretary Pascoe Kase after the walk when everyone assembles at the Jack Pidik Park.

A cervical cancer survivor will also share her experience as part of the awareness campaign.

A prayer will also be made for the survivors, families and children of those who lost the battle to cervical cancer.
