Police to provide security at Morobe show

Police will be in full force today to provide security at the Morobe Provincial Agricultural show.

Lae city police boss Chief Superintendent Anthony Wagambie Jr said police will be assisting the private securities contracted to the show in manning all entry and exit perimeters.

His assurance was given to the business communities through Lae Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) weekly newsletter updates.

"I want to assure the public that police will be out on operations for the event.

"Police will be assisting the contracted security firms to man both the outer and inner perimeters of the show ground as well as conduct foot patrols within the show area. The committee is working closely with the Show ground Commander," he said.

He said business is as usual in the city during the Show as  police have also been deployed for normal duties in the metropolitan area.

"We will ensure the safety of both show goers and the rest of the city over the weekend.

“Our Sector Patrol units will continue throughout the city as security within and outside of the Show ground, with the assistance from some outside manpower for the weekend event," he said.

The Metropolitan Commander assured everyone of police operations after string of crimes committed in the city which might cause uncertainty of security during the Show.
