PMBL Port Moresby customer now can use electronic banking system

Peoples Micro Bank (PMBL) customers can now access funds using an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) or electronic funds transfer at point of sale (EFTPOS) services.

The services will only be introduced to Port Moresby customers and later to other branches.

The bank's new website was also launched last week.

An excited PMBL chief executive officer Anthony De La Cruz said the automation banking system will improve customer service.

“The introduction of Automated Teller Machines and EFTPOS devices we expect a massive increase in our serving capacity by as much as 5 times more than before.

“We expect to see shorter waiting times, shorter queues, no congestion at bank branches and more importantly satisfied customers at our bank.

“We expect to see higher productivity and increased job satisfaction among our bank officers as a result of process automation and improved controls. In the near future, we will serve our customers even in locations without a PMB branch,” Dela Cruz said.

When the bank opened its first branch in 2013, all accounts kept at the bank were passbook accounts and customers did manual transactions.
