NCD Governor dedicates ‘Walk’ to late Pidik

National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop is dedicating his ‘Walk for Life’ this coming Sunday to late Joe Pidik.

Late Pidik became a victim of a brawl that erupted after the Agmark Rabaul Gurias and Wamp Nga Mt. Hagen Eagles’ preliminary final.

“To show my public expression of disgust and also as a display of our collective denunciation of violence I wish to propose that we will walk this Sunday, during the Walk For Life, and end up with a service and a prayer for Joe Pidik.

“My intention is get the whole city to gather, call for an end of violence of all forms including in sports and we will visit Joe’s Haus Krai.

“I would like to invite the Minister for Sports, Justin Tkatchenko, PNG Rugby League Federation, Vipers team and the Hunter’s team if they are in town to also join the walk.

“I call upon everyone, every team, peace loving people to come and join us before we celebrate Independence and mourn the death of Joe Pidik,” he said.

Parkop added that all those who will be joining the walk, must wear white shirts for Peace.

“We will walk from Jack Pidik in honour of Joe Pidik and end up at Sir Hubert Murray Stadium for the prayer service dedicated to calling for an end of violence in sports and all form of violence in the city and in our country.”
