NA gives K20,000 to Sumkar District Tournament

The National Alliance Party (NA) has thrown its support behind the Sumkar District Tournament with K20,000.

The money was presented by NA Party Secretary Joyce Grant in Kinim Station, Karkar Island, to chairman of District Sports Atis Deme.

Grant says the money is to help the organising committee run the tournament.

It is not an early awareness campaign grant but a kind donation to help and support youths of Sumkar District through sporting activities, she explains.

Meanwhile, local organising committee chairman Deme said the District has not supported this tournament and this money will go towards sorting out transportation, both land and sea, for teams, accommodation, meals and refreshment and prizes.

Deme thanked the NA Party for the support, adding the event is one of the biggest tournaments that brings teams from all parts of Sumkar District.

He said soccer has more than 30 teams, volleyball and darts 20 teams, basketball with 18 and touch football with six. This is the highest number of participants, compared to previous district games.

He urged those teams taking part to play and get to know each other through sharing ideas and working together.
