Lae talents up close

Who can beat Jack Spade, the magician from Northern Province, who at the moment seems to be the favourite of Digicel Play’s Yu Em Khax season one?

Jack Spade will shine the light on this newest show on the TVWAN Life channel, bringing a class of his own, as super judge Calextus Simeon describes.

“So far, if we have to put all our contestants together, he’s actually at the moment leading,” Simeon said, referring to Jack Spade.

He acknowledged the skills put into play by the aspiring magician, who is focused on being the one unique talent in PNG.

“His act is original, he knows how to interact with the audience, he knows how to interact with the camera and the good thing about him is that he also explains his magic as he goes. That’s the beauty about Jack Spade,” Simeon added.

He also had good comments about the talents from the Lae heat, discovered during the auditions last week.

Brothers Adolf and Greg (BIZ) are dancers who Simeon says have also brought fresh moves into the b-boy scene, quite different from the usual.

The brothers execute very simple moves, but with swag. This has set them apart from other groups in Port Moresby and Lae.

Peter Kumulman is a long-time local comedian who the judges see has entertainment value.

“We picked him because we think he’s got more to offer and that people would love him. He needs another level to show what he does and bringing him onto the show is like a reward to him,” Simeon furthered.

There is usually the fourth talent, selected as a wildcard and for the Lae heat, it’s Bradley Wong. He is John Wong’s son, a legendary musician in PNG, but the judges of Yu Em Khax have identified a unique style with Bradley.

Simeon says Wong’s voice is unique and he is promising to bring more to the show.

The show was aired on Saturday, November 19,  7pm on TVWAN Life.

In the meantime, Yu Em Khax Mount Hagen Heat is underway at the Highlander Hotel.
