Hotel takes duo to court

A hotel manager in Port Moresby has taken two people to court for using false pretense to acquire a hotel room and cash free of charge.

The accused Ashley Maya Tati Jones of Baluan, Manus and Musau, New Ireland provinces and Peter Gire of South fly district,Western province appeared in court today.

They appeared before the Waigani District court on charges of partly fake promises with intent to defraud.

The complainant, Gateway Hotel from the Coral sea group of companies took the duo to court after they used false promises to get the hotel manager to give them accommodation and other allowances for free.

Magistrate Cosmos Bidar in reading their charges said It is alleged that between January 20,2015 and June 11,2015 the two accused used false promises and under false pretense managed to get hotel room 289 for their usage.

 It is alleged they used false pretense to the Hotel manager Matthew Cooper where they were given a room, provided meals and cash advances to the value of K25,458.

They applied for bail through their lawyer for K2,000 each which the court granted. They return to court in a month's time.
