Golf charity event launched

The annual charity golf challenge, the Daffodil Cup, is on again with registration now open.

The competition will be held on Friday, August 12, at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club.

The event, organised by the Papua New Guinea Cancer Foundation, was launched yesterday in Port Moresby as registration opens to corporate companies and individual groups.

The launching saw major sponsor Oil Search continuing its support with K25, 000 towards the event.

Oil Search has been involved with the Daffodil Corporate Golf Challenge for more than 10 years.

Executive general manager stakeholder engagement at Oil Search, Gerea Aopi, said they’re pleased to continue their support towards charity event and raise funds for cancer prevention and awareness.

Aopi invited the corporate supporters to join in raising as much money as possible for awareness about cancer and support for the many men, women and children affected by it.

PNG Cancer Foundation chief executive officer Dadi Toka Jr thanked Oil Search for actively being involved in the work of PNGCF.

Toka Jr extended an invitation to all business houses to get behind this charity drive.

Over 30 teams are expected to take part with early bird registration fee of K3, 000. Those that register as of August 1 will pay a fee of K3, 500.

The funds raised will go towards PNGCF’s free mouth and breast cancer screening programs in six provinces within PNG in 2017.
