Free health and education funded in Budget

The O’Neill - Dion Government continue funding its flagship policies of free education and health care policies into the election year.

Treasury Minister Patrick Pruaitch today handed down the K12.9 billion, 2017 National Budget.

Education and health sectors account to 18.4 per cent of next year’s budget.    

The health sector maintained the third highest allocation amounting to K1.2 billion, a slight drop from K1.5 billion from the amount allocated in 2016 budget.   

And education sector was allocated K1. 1 billion, a drop from K1.3 billion from this year’s money plan.

The key expenses in the health sector’s allocation is free health care which amounts to K20 million and medical supplies procurement K160 million.

For the education sector, the Tuition Fee Free (TFF) policy will get a direct funding of K602 million.
