Enga youths in court for burning cemetery

Two youths from Laiagam area in Enga Province will appear at the Waigani District court on January 25, 2016 after they allegedly stole roofing iron from a church and set a cemetery on fire.

The Waigani District Court today transferred the matter to Wabag where the alleged offense was committed.

Bonac Lambu and Frank Joe, both of Iamele village in the Laiagam district of Enga Province yesterday appeared at the Waigani District Court.

Both were arrested in Port Moresby and will now have their case transferred back to Wabag town after Criminal Investigation Detectives in Wabag made a request.

It is alleged that on 18 Oct this year at Iamale, Laiagam district, Enga Province, the two, while in the company of others stole some roofing iron belonging to the Iamale Catholic mission. 

They were charged for stealing roofing iron from the church valued at K65,000.

It is also alleged that on the same date and venue, Lambu and Joe while in the company of others went to a cemetery and set fire to it.

They were charged for setting fire to a cemetery that is valued at K10,000.

Both defendants are being remanded at  Bomana jail where they await their transfer to Wabag.
