Enga leaders must stop criticising

Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas has urged the people in his province to ignore speculations against the performance of the current Government.

He said it was sensible for leaders, including fellow MPs from his province to humble themselves and allow the current O’Neill/Dion Government to complete implementing its plan on development and service delivery.

Sir Peter said it was ridiculous to see leaders mainly from his province who held senior ministerial positions in past governments but did not achieve anything to preach about making miracles when in Government.

“I must tell the people of Enga to ignore such “crazy Enga leaders who talk about making miracles” when they form government. They are dreaming and will dream forever after fail to deliver anything when they had the opportunity with past Governments,” he said.

Sir Peter said the rapid change of the National Capital District with the development of iconic infrastructures including the World standard sports facilities, Jacksons Airport redevelopment, major improvement undertakings on city road networks, four lane road construction in Lae and Mt Hagen, were monumental changes which should be welcomed.

He said the introduction of free education policy, redevelopment of main sea port facilities, establishment of the historic district development authorities and empowering of women and youth as equal partners in nation building, were issues which were now being funded by the O’Neill/Dion Government.

“I cannot think of a past government that came up with such landmark decisions to accomplish so much of impact projects and deliver vital services to those who needed the most within a short period of time than the current Government,” he said.

Sir Peter added it was proper for Port Moresby-based leaders to go to their provinces and see the changes that had taken place in their absence instead of wasting time in the city with strangers.
