Enga Governor drives education

Enga has promoted two of its high schools to secondary status as part of its human resource development policy.

They are Tsak and Pilikambi provincial high schools that are located in Wapenmanda and upper Laiagam districts.

Governor Sir Peter Ipatas told thousands of parents in both districts last week that the Department of Education had approved his administration’s submissions for the elevation of the two schools to enrol grade 11 students next year.

The two new learning institutions bring the number of secondary schools in the province to seven. The other five include St Pauls (Pausa), Four Square, Sir Tei Abal, Kopen and Highlands Lutheran International School.

Sir Peter Ipatas also announced the approval of a new High School which learning facilities are currently being constructed at Mulitaka near the border of Laiagam and Porgera.

The new high school will also start enrolling Grade 9 next year, the leader who is widely known as the “Action Governor” said.

“The people of Enga must be reminded once again that education still remains priority number one for my government. This is simply because I strongly believe that a well-educated Enga population will change the current unpromising economic and social position of our province,” he said.
