City residents urged to unite with red, black and gold colours

City residents in Port Moresby are urged to unite as one county by promoting the colours red, black and gold on the National Flag.

National Capital District (NCD) Governor Powes Parkop appeals to the public to celebrate this day by carrying the PNG flag and wearing the PNG colours as a symbol of unity.

Parkop reminds everyone that September 16 is our National Day and not a provincial day.

“That’s no law against this but I appeal to everyone to be patriotic and have a sense of respect and responsibility to our country by wearing the national colours.

“There must be no provincial flag business and lets come together to celebrate 41 years together as a nation.

“I know we are over a thousand tribes and over 800 languages but we have traveled 41 years as a nation, our future is together as one nation and this is the time when we show it.

He urged everyone to do the right thing.
