Cheshire celebrates Day of Persons with Disability

"You are setting a fantastic example for the country and the world by making sure that you have in your schools children with disabilities and children without a disability playing, working and learning together.”

That was what United Nations country resident representative Roy Trivedy said during today’s National Day of Persons with Disability celebrations in the Nation’s Capital.

"That is a brilliant example and it is the way in which we can all learn, grow and develop together," said Trivedy.

The event’s theme was "Inclusion Matters-Access and Empowerment of People with Disabilities”.

Students from primary schools in Port Moresby came together to celebrate National Day of Persons with Disability with the staff and students at the Cheshire disAbility Services at Hohola.

The schools include Hohola Demonstration, Sacred Heart, Ted Diro and St Michael's Primary School.

The day was filled with speeches and item presentation of dances and songs by the visiting schools and students from Cheshire's early childhood learning.

It is great to witness the work that is done at Cheshire, which is inspiring, the UN rep stated. It is motivating to see schools coming together to celebrate this day.
