Chapecoense fined for not playing last game of the season

Chapecoense have been fined AU$53,400 for not playing their final match of the Brazilian Championship, despite the plane crash that killed 19 of their players in Colombia on November 28.

According to a report from The Mirror, both Chapecoense and opponents Atletico Mineiro were hit by the financial penalty from the Brazilian Superior Court of Justice after the match on December 1 did not go ahead.

It is believed the Brazilian FA will try to intervene so that no fine is imposed, according to sources in the country.
