Boxing provides great potential for firms to grow

General-Secretary of the PNG Boxing Union, Dr Gideon Kendino has invited corporate firms that are looking to grow their profile or brands saying boxing is a sport that provides great potential that they can utilise.

“We are telling the corporate organisations that we are approaching that boxing is a sport that can give value for money as we are willing to include them in packages that provides great opportunities based on their specific needs,” said Kendino.

He said potential sponsors interested in joining the boxing team can contact him on 72955944 or email gkendino45@gmail.com for details.

Meanwhile, Kendino also announced the select squad for an international friendly against Fiji later this month on October 29 in Suva.

The squad:

Joe Ogogo (56kg) – Mekeo, Cornelius Inapi (60kg) – Mekeo, John Ume (64kg) – Simon Mildner (69kg) – NCD, Peter Miria (75kg) – NCD, Kala Kami (91kg) – NCD. The team will be coached by Mark Keto (NCD). Team Manager is Mathew Aisa (Mekeo).

Kendino explained that while the PNGBU wanted to provide opportunities for certain weight divisions including the women’s category, it was Fiji Boxing which is in a re-building stage that was unable to provide credible opponents in these divisions.
