Beyoncé's Lemonade already heading for No.1 after only a day on sale

Beyoncé's already closing in on the UK album chart top spot, and Lemonade only went on sale yesterday.

The singer has swooped into the number two position and is currently sitting between Prince's The Very Best Of at one and Prince's Ultimate at three.

Beyoncé premiered the visual album on TIDAL on Saturday before releasing it to iTunes yesterday (April 25). Lemonade will also be released on CD on May 6.

Unsurprisingly, the singer is already reigning over the iTunes chart.

Beyoncé's rival for number one this Friday, Prince, is currently flooding the charts after his death at the age of 57 on Thursday.

"The huge demand for Prince songs and albums over the past few days serves to underline just what this legendary music icon meant to British music fans," Official Charts Company chief executive Martin Talbot said.

"Despite a late challenge from Beyonce with the release of her latest album Lemonade, Prince is certain to make a massive impact on the Official Singles and Albums Charts this weekend, particularly impressive given that his music is only available on one streaming service and the albums are in limited supply as CDs and vinyl."
