Alotau climate change march

While world leaders meet in Paris on climate change talks, the small town of Alotau staged a peaceful climate change march this morning to express a positive response to the challenges of climate change.

The march was led by Alotau Catholic Church Bishop, Rolando Santos, Minister Abel and Members of the Alotau District Development Authority and Catholic Church members.

The march started from the Catholic Diocese headquarters all the way to the main market jetty.

Bishop Rolando said; "We have bounty resources in the province and we must take good care of our environment, our resources, our land, forest, water and sea.

"Together we can tackle the challenges of climate change which are rising sea level, soil erosion, El Nino drought and others."

"We can do it if we learn to share the limited resources we have."

He said sharing will help and that no one will go hungry or poor and become victims of climate change effect.

He encouraged everyone to trust and believe in God in such times as God is the ultimate source of everything on the face of this earth.

Meanwhile Minister Abel has also announced he will be joining the Prime Minister Peter tomorrow in Paris with other world leaders on climate change talks.
