Chairman of the NCD Suburban Rugby League, Billy Aki, is expected to appear at the District Court sitting at Bomana tomorrow, Jan 7, over murder charges.
From the Western Highlands Province, Aki was arrested on Tuesday and charged with the wilful murder of his wife (name withheld).
He is being detained at the Boroko Police station awaiting his first court appearance over allegations he murdered his wife in Port Moresby.
It is alleged he assaulted her at the Kone Tigers oval in the view of onlookers following an argument on Christmas Eve.
This assault left her with serious life-threatening injuries that saw her admitted at the Intensive Care Unit of the Port Moresby General Hospital.
She died from her injuries over the weekend.
