K15,000 support for book week

The 2018 National Book Week, to be launched in Kerema on Monday, August 6th, has received support to the tune of K15,000 from the Gulf Investment Trust Fund (GITF).

Trustee of the GITF Paul Apio, when handing over the cheque, said the fund has been very concerned about the poor standard of education in the province and he hopes the funding will help revive the libraries and archival services in the province.

Director-General for the Office of National Libraries and Archives, Kakaito Kasi, assured GITF that with the good support from the Government,  Library and Archives services will be developed in the Gulf provincial capital and to all districts and schools in the province.

“We will not only develop libraries, but also provide staff and books to the districts and schools with libraries,” he said.

The slogan for the week is ‘Read-Write Forevermore’.
