The resource industry and the media have a great responsibility to educate a very wide set of stakeholders.
Vice President of the PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum, Richard Kassman, said this marking the opening of the PNG resources Sector Communications Workshop in Port Moresby.
Kassman said the mining and petroleum sector and the media must update and inform all relevant stakeholders beginning at the village level ranging from the landowners up the Government and throughout the rest of the country.
He was speaking to Speaking to media personal and mining and petroleum company’s public relations and communications experts.
The workshop is in its seventh year of running and aims to assist the media and public relations professionals from resource companies in reporting the operations of of the companies in the country.
Presentations were made today by ExxonMobil, Oil Search, Wafi – Golpu Joint Venture, on the experiences in the communications sector, as well as Australian Firm PPR, giving an insight in public relations and social media strategy.
The two day workshop ends tomorrow.
