Eda Ranu warns water users to be on alert

The Eda Ranu Management is calling on the city residence to report any suspicious actions by its workers when out on the field.

This warning has been established after certain criminal elements donned in Eda Ranu uniforms gaining access to properties in the pretext of reading the water meter or delivering water bills, end up robbing customers.

Eda Ranu Managing Director Henry Mokono said the use of its uniforms by criminal elements to commit crimes is a serious offence and the Management will not hesitate to use the full brunt of the law on perpetrators who are caught.

He said consumers have a right to deny access to meter readers who fail to present any form of identification.

“We encourage customers to properly verify identification before allowing our employees to their premises for monthly meter readings and bill deliveries.”

Mokono is encouraging consumers to seek identification from meter readers and to write down plate numbers of the vehicles which are been used by the meter readers.

He said Eda Ranu has taken administrative measures to properly attire its employees, clearly mark all Eda Ranu vehicles and issue Eda Ranu identification cards.

“Eda Ranu would like to disassociate itself from reports of recent criminal activities performed by criminal elements in and around the city.”

He said the Management is condemning in the strongest terms the use of its identity for such activities.

Mokono added that Eda Ranu is a State Owned Entity and prides itself in its identity and the relationships it has formed over the years with its consumers throughout the city and the surrounding Motu Koita and settlement communities.

He is calling on consumers to be vigilant and smart.

Consumers are urged to contact the Eda Ranu office on the following numbers for verification if in doubt: Bemobile: 7564 2933/7564 2987 or Telikom: 78020352 or 7802 0352 or 312 2133 or 312 2100 or email info@edaranu.com.pg or on our EDA RANU Facebook page.
