Uruguay

Fiji beat Uruguay 47-15

Nemia Kenatale and Leone Nakarawa, plus two penalty tries, helped the Pacific Islanders lead 26-10 at half-time, earning a bonus point before the break.

Uruguay had not scored a World Cup try since 2003, but Carlos Arboleya and Agustin Ormaechea crossed in each half.

Fiji eased away in the final quarter with three more tries, as Uruguay were reduced to 14 men as Ormaechea saw red.

Uruguay now travel to Manchester for their final pool match on Saturday against hosts England, who have also already been eliminated from the tournament.

Big World Cup hurdle for Oceania

The draw in St Petersburg has pitted the Oceania winners against the fifth-placed South American nation in an intercontinental play-off for a berth in the 2018 tournament.

Two-time World Cup winners Uruguay have finished fifth in the last four South American qualifying competitions and taken part in an intercontinental play-off on each occasion.

Last time around, with the likes of star strikers Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani in their side, they beat Jordan 5-0 on aggregate to get to the World Cup in Brazil.
