​Sunam dominates POM hockey titles

In the men’s division, experienced campaigners Sunam Gold defeated the new bloods Bladez men 2-0 in an intensive contest to claim the title.

In the women’s division, the match went into a strong challenge in extra time before Sunam thrashed the arch rivals Bismarck’s 4-2 to reclaim their title.

The Association has now gone into a short leave to allow for the preparation of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup before getting back on the turf with some exciting plans for the Christmas tournaments.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sunam’s stiff defence stifle Bismark in NCD women’s hockey

Sunam’s managed a well-earned  0-0 draw with Bismarck at the Sir John Guise stadium hockey pavilion.

Sunam women played an inspiring match with a strong defence with a heavily guarded backline that turned the match the other way around from what was expected.

Holding off the unbeatable Bismarck’s to a nil-all draw at halftime.

After the break Sunam maintain their fair defence as the strong Bismarck side failed to make a breakthrough in a game with very few chances for either side.

Bladez beat United in Pom Hockey

The first half of the game went tough for both sides before Bladez scored an opener to lead at the break 1-0.

The second half was dominated by Bladez, and their experience and skills shut out Uniteds for much of the game, although the Uniteds front liners was constant danger on the fast break.

Bladez midfielders worked tirelessly, creating numerous attacking opportunities and they gradually wore down the united team.

Bladez struck again for their first in the second half with a quick combination upfront to extend their lead to 2-0.

In the men’s division this Saturday, a tough battle opener will be between second placed United and fifth placed Wanderers.

Wanderers after defeating fourth placed Bismark Gold last weekend in an intense playoff are in a winning streak to pull back another win this weekend against the United.

Meanwhile, United after beating Sunam Black 3-0 last weekend in a second third clash to climb 3 points ahead of Sunam is ready to claim another win to topple Blaze Men off the top who are leveled 15 points each from Round 6.
