Isou faces Blacks in trials

PRK Gulf Isou and Moresby South Blacķs Development team are set to face off in a trial match at the Moresby South Stadium on Sunday 18 December 2022.

This is the first trial for Isou Development team after several weeks of training.

Isou head coach, Roger Laka, team manager Raymond Aru and trainer Lawrence Tuu ensured on training abilities of the fringe players and new comers to the unit.

Laka said, “We’ll be trialing these players to see their quality especially their fitness and skills levels with consistent performance.

“This is only a friendly match but this is where we measure ourselves to improve on and polish up. We have quite a number of good talents in the side to really show off their potentials against a strong host side,” he said. 

Laka said the opportunity is there so this is the chance to prove it now to be in it.

Blacķs training was disrupted due to heavy downpour recently but coaching director, Bagelo Solien has trust in his charges.

“We have good players selected from the top eight teams in the Moresby South Rugby League competition.
“We are giving opportunity to this stock to be prepared for the next level in the near future,” Bagelo said.

He said there is understanding between the Isou, Vipers and Central Dabaris and hopes that couple of prospects are picked.

The franchises were praised for utilising Moresby South Rugby League as an identification platform to scout for players.

“We had good match against visiting Alotau team comprising of a lot of potential players enjoying their football.

“This is not about winning but about experience, exposure and development of players to be recognized.”
