BSP Schools Kriket program launched

The award winning junior development program has grown each year since its inception in 2010 and has proven a record of building and providing a pathway for excellence in the sport.

2016 was no exception as the program reached 188,407 participants across 252 schools and 110 clinics across eleven (11) regions across the country. This mark beat the previous year’s record of 171,500 which was reached in 2013 across 297 schools. 

The year also marked the first time for the program to reach more parts of the highlands, with Eastern Highlands recording the highest participation numbers countrywide (37,697) while National Capital District (NCD) had the second highest participation numbers (37,363) and Western Highlands were third (25,588).  

The BSP School Kriket program was designed to breed future Barramundis and Lewas and at the same time teaches the children the values of team work, respect, leadership, motor skills, dedication, communication and exercise which are some of the important life skills.

BSP’s Manager, e-Business Development, Igo Douna said, “2016 proved successful as the BSP School Kriket Program raised new achievements, the program was recognised and attributed to producing players who were selected to the under 19 train on Squad for the PNG Garamuts. In the same year, we proudly noted another star player, Dogodo Bau who became the 116^th player to make the PNG Barramundis; also a product of the BSP School Kricket Program.
