PNG Women’s Forum to get underway in Goroka

The 4th PNG Women’s Forum Highlands Region is set to get underway from February 7-8 at the University of Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province.

The forum will be hosted by the U.S. Embassy Port Moresby, PNG Tribal Foundation and the Department of Community Development.

The Regional Forum is in response to overwhelming requests from women across the country that the Forum extend its reach outside Port Moresby.

Participants will include women who serve in leadership roles within community and civil society groups, individual women leaders and women’s empowerment advocates.

Female entrepreneurs, emerging young leaders, up and coming public servants and other leading women in the Highlands region will also take part.

Men with a strong interest in women’s empowerment and gender equality are also invited to participate.

Organisers from the Department of Community Development confirmed that participants will start arriving on Monday to undergo registration for the event.

The official program will start on Tuesday with the theme “Strengthening Our Voices Together”.

Guest speakers at the event include EHP Governor Julie Soso, University of Goroka vice-chancellor Professor Musawe Sinebare, U.S. Ambassador to PNG Catherine Ebert-Gray, Dame Carol Kidu and Lynda Babao-O’Neill.

The forum will involve different panel discussions on various issues that affect women.
