PNG National Party prepares for 2017 elections

The PNG National Party is set to go into the next general elections as a player in economic and development growth.

While Parliamentary Party leader and Member for Sinasina Yongomugl, Kerenga Kua, anticipates bringing more members into parliament come next elections, the party now is focusing on connecting the business community to fulfilling the private public partnership arrangement.

The Party currently has two members in Parliament.

On Friday it hosted a meet and greet cocktail party at the Lae International Hotel to connect the Lae business community to realising its partnership.

The night’s gathering was to get companies to get to know the political party as it hosts its fundraising dinner on Oct 28.

It also launched its Morobe branch as it joins recently launched Jiwaka, Western Highlands and Simbu.

“The party wants to create a healthy business environment and Lae is the right place to promote the agenda,” says Kua.

Kua said the party wants to build a strong economic environment in Lae in preparation for its fundraising drive later this month.

He said there was a lot to be done and achieved through the private public partnership.

“We want to build up on this new relationship and revive the old relationships to implement a lot of development projects,” the former Attorney General said.

Meanwhile, party president David Yak said Morobe province was not owned by any political party and PNG National Party believes in the mandate of people to get into power and not guns.

Yak said he is looking forward to the fundraiser as the party raises money to run the elections.
