APEC Vietnam summit begins today

Leaders of the 21 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and delegates have been arriving in Da Nang city, Vietnam, for the APEC Vietnam 2017 Summit.

Despite the heavy downpour and storms, Da Nang city is doing all it can to prepare for the opening of the APEC 2017 Summit.

The APEC 2017 High Level Week officially starts today (Nov 6).

However, according to local media, given the current weather conditions, the Central Meteorological and Hydrological Station issued a warning for Da Nang city. It has been rated level 3 on the disaster level scale.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill is expected to touch down in Da Nang city on Wednesday.

O’Neill will also be taking over the chair from Vietnam as PNG prepares to host the next APEC Summit in 2018.

Furthermore, US President Donald Trump is expected to be in Da Nang on Nov 10.

Whilst in Vietnam, he will deliver his speech and present the United States’ vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific region and underscore the important role the region plays in advancing America’s economic prosperity.

The APEC Summit will end on Nov 11.
