World’s top reggae gospel band Christafari in Moresby for concert

The world's top reggae gospel band Christafari continues its Melanesian tour in Port Moresby after performing at venues in Rabaul and Lae.

The band will perform this weekend at the Sione Kami Memorial Church (RSKMC) for two nights, tonight (Saturday 7 November) and tomorrow (Sunday 8 November) starting at 6pm.

Christafari formed in 1990 is centred on the personality of ordained Minister Mark "Tansoback" Mohr an American, born-again Christian.

Until the age of 17, Mohr was a Rastafarian and the essential goal of Christafari is to promote Christianity to all people including Rastafarians.

Christafari's lyrics are characterized by a heart for Rastafarians, a passion for reaching the drug-afflicted counter-culture and a distinctly evangelical Christian message.

Musically, the group fuses rustic roots with modern dancehall and yardee culture to create their own signature sound.

The concert is part of RSKMC's 25th anniversary celebrations which was officially launched on 18 October.

Tickets are selling at K30 per person per night at the church’s administration office and Vision City Mega Mall. Kids under five years have free admission.
