Water service goes online to reduce wait

Water PNG customers will no longer be standing in long queues to pay their bills.

The company has embarked on a modern and convenient payment scheme to pay water bills.

The new payment system is effective today (Oct 22) where customers will be able to pay their bills online and via mobile phones with BSP, ANZ and Westpac online payment scheme.

Speaking at the launch today chief executive officer Raka Taviri says the Bill Pay Scheme is quicker and easier than writing and mailing paper cheques and only takes seconds.

Water PNG customers who bank with BSP, ANZ or Westpac can register with these banks to have access to the Bill Pay facility.

No fees will be charged for each transaction however customers will need internet access and money in their accounts to use the scheme.

The customer's account held with each bank is credited automatically and a record of the payments, stating the account numbers for payments, will be sent to Water PNG for reconciliation purposes.

Water PNG ICT manager Nepthaly Serebut said this is part of Water PNG's effort to improve the quality of service to its customers through automated banking facilities.
