Warriors and Royals level 14-14 in final round of PRL

Dobo Warriors and Royals have finished the round robin games of the Port Moresby Rugby League competition level at 14-14 today at the Murray Barracks Oval.

It was a close encounter as the A Grade players braved the Moresby heat to put up a good challenge.

Warriors were the first to score, 4-0 through Junex Steven ten minutes into the first half followed by another try, making it  8-0 through Simpi Fred five minutes later.

Both tries were followed by unsuccessful conversions.   

Royals fought hard to score their first try minutes to half time,  taking the score up to 8-6 at the break.

Royals were back in the game, scoring their second try through Wapi Mori, taking them to the lead by two points after an unsuccessful conversion, 10-8.

A try from Mex Wemin ten minutes later took Warriors back into the lead 12-10 after another unsuccessful conversion.

The pressure was on as both teams beefed up their attack.

Royals scored their third try through Steven Gia to put them back in front 12-14 after another failed conversion.

A penalty kick by Warriors minutes to full time prevented Royals from winning the game, leaving the score levelled at 14-14.

In other round 25 games, Brothers defeated Souths 12-10 and Tarangau beat Hawks 22-14.

The final play off will begin next weekend.
