Upaiga, Semmy shut out Rapatona

Top striker Koriak Upaiga has done it again helping MRDC Hekari United FC to win its second game in the PNG NSL Champion’s League today.

Upaiga and teammate Tommy Semmy partnered to take Hekari home against PKA Rapatona FC 2-0 at the Bisini Soccer Ground.

Upaiga wasted no time scoring just five minutes into the game when he found the net to lead 1-0.

This was Upaiga’s second goal in the champion’s league following his first goal on Saturday when Hekari defeated Rapatona 1-0 in game one.

The score remained 1-0 at halftime after Rapatona tried to attack but struggled in the first half as Hekari’s defense  held firm.

Rapatona fought hard in the second half and missed an opportunity when striker Pettyshen Elizah attempted to score 11 minutes into the second half but Hekari’s keeper Ismeal Pole managed to stop the ball.

Rapatona continued to miss opportunities as Pole maintained to keep his guard up stopping the balls.

Fast play from Hekari’s forward pack resulted in a great set up as Semmy  struck the second goal for Hekari 2-0 taking his team to victory.

In the match in Lae, Welgris Morobe United FC went down to Lae City Dwellers 2-0 thanks to two goals from Nigel Dabinyaba.
