THE sixteen thousand people from Central Kerema in Gulf Province will soon have their very own Bible translated in their own Tairuma language.
The Tairuma Language Group of Central Kerema in Gulf Province is in the final draft of the book which will be launched before the end of the year.
AOG Pastor Heisi Mako thanked the fellow members for their contribution and support in cash and kind in the past year to bring this project this far.
“I wish to thank you all for your support and prayers for the Tairuma Language Group,” Pastor Heisi Mako said.
He also thanked elected executive committee members who had trust in overseeing the various aspects of the project from organising translators who still commit their life in this ministry to fundraising much needed funds to help get the project off the ground.
“I also want to thank the Director for PNG BTA for his trust and confidence towards our daughter Badi Vila by posting her to her former colleagues and allowing your staff to come down and have one day Proposal Planning Workshop with us here in Kerema,” Chairman John Tayson Maiva said. This year the group will revisit the books of Ruth and Jonah which were already translated in Tairuma by Badi and her co-workers.
Coordinator Pastor Heisi Mako of the AOG church thanked the overall project team who collected information and established the formation of the office bearers.
“I am encouraged by the partnership of Local Churches working alongside each other, in that the elders of the AOG church and United Church in Kerema has given us the blessings to use the church facilities for our meetings and other trainings,” Pastor Heisi said.
Gabriel Ikamu one of the course participants said he was delighted to be part of the team to the SIL campus at Ukarumpa.
Apart from translating the Bible, he and the team will also produce Tairuma Audio Bible for those people who are blind or who cannot read and write.
