Research outfit to go on show soon

The evolving concept of SME (Small Medium Enterprises) will be promoted when the annual Agricultural Innovations Show is staged in Lae next month by the National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI).

According to the organizing committee, preparations are well on target with a modest showdown that will see partner organisations in agriculture and rural development exhibit their services and products.

The theme is ‘Agricultural Innovations for SME Development and Rural Empowerment’.

There will be a range of displays and demonstrations on food crops, livestock and resource management issues.

The event which is open free to the public is an information and knowledge sharing activity which will see farmers and agricultural stakeholders engaging with service providers and development partners on August 12.

The Bubia showground will have live crop demonstrations by NARI on improved crop varieties suitable for different farming conditions and some of NARI projects contributing to SME development and rural empowerment.

Private and public sector organizations, NGOs and innovative farmers have also been invited to exhibit their contributions to SME.

The show is supported by Zenag Chicken, IFC Besta, National Development Bank and AgMark Machinery.
