Police Commissioner urges public to refrain from releasing unconfirmed reports to the public

Commissioner of Police Gari Baki has called upon people to be responsible and refrain from releasing unconfirmed, unsubstantiated information to the public.

"Unconfirmed, unsubstantiated and unfounded reports can cause fear, anxiety and could actually cause or incite violence and public disorder," Commissioner Baki said.

Commissioner Baki said at this point in time there are no deaths reported, contrary to what is being reported over the social media.

About nine students are currently receiving medical treatment at the Port Moresby General Hospital for a number of injuries sustained this morning allegedly in a confrontation with police at the Waigani Campus.
