Miss PNG Pacific Islands crowning in October

The crowning of Miss PNG Pacific Island has been confirmed for October 22 and the host sponsor as Crowne Plaza Hotel in Port Moresby.

Deputy Chairperson, Molly O’Rourke announced this today while introducing the third pageant contestant.

Already, the pageant has three confirmed contestants, Samantha Kuase – Miss IBS (Institute of Business Studies), Melody Leke - Miss PBF (Pacific Balance Fund) and Dorothy Elliott - Miss Italpreziosi.

However another four contestants would be needed to make a quota of seven young women who would need to have sponsors to support them, in this event.

PNG’s Miss Abigail Havora had won the Miss Pacific Island crown last year, after 29 years.

Setting the benchmark, the committee is now focused on keeping the crown again, this year.

Chairperson Katherine Johnston confirmed in a media conference last week that the small committee of only five is working very hard.

The Miss Pacific Island Pageant 2016 will be in Samoa in December.

MPIP PNG is calling on business houses to sponsor other young women who are interested to contest in the pageant.
