Lawyer finally files submissions

Nine months after the alleged sexual penetration of two minors at Baruni in Port Moresby, lawyer representing three youths who were allegedly involved in the act filed their submission to the court.

Counsel representing Ganima Samuel, Frank John and Pakanda Las finally filed written submissions before the Waigani District Court on Jan 22 this year.

Magistrate Cosmas Bidar made this known in court today after the three accused returned to court but this time without their lawyer.

Bidar said the matter has been a long outstanding case since its first mention on April 15, 2015 in court.

He allowed one final adjournment to Feb 4 to give the youths’ lawyer to be in court before he proceeds with a ruling on the case.

Ganima Samuel, Frank John and Pakanda Las are facing allegations they abducted and sexually penetrated two girls aged 10 and 13 on April 3 last year at the Motana settlement near Baruni dump.

It is alleged the three with another unknown suspect were under the influence of alcohol when they came across the two girls at Jack’s Store Motana settlement, Baruni dump.

There the girls were abducted from the store while making their way home.

They were taken to the mountain top of the Eda Ranu Southern Cross Tanks were they were sexually penetrated.

Police investigation files were served to the defendants on August 28, 2015.
