Police in Lae have been out in full force since the New Year period in Lae City.
Lae Metropolitan Police Commander Anthony Wagambie says that his personnel will cover all parts of the city including Bumayong and West Taraka.
He assures that police have good support for the law and order committees within the community, supported by their ward councillor.
Wagambie has also commended the communities who have organized themselves to assist police in patrolling their areas as well as keeping a look out for troublemakers.
He also pledged police support to the organized groups to ensure that they work in partnership to enable a peaceful remainder of the festive period.
Meantime Wagambie called on the general public in Lae to continue celebrations in a civilized and trouble free manner adding that people must respect public property and not carryout illegal activities.
He warns that police will be out in big numbers and will deal with those troublemakers or opportunists who want to disrupt the festive season in Lae.
