Journalists to get training ahead of the PIF

Two day training for Journalist covering the Pacific Island Forum will commence on Saturday at the Gateway Hotel in Port Moresby.

The media workshop will be hosted by the Pacific Island News Association (PINA) and Pacific Island Forum Secretariat (PIFS).

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill is expected to give a key note address at the opening of the workshop.

The training will cover topics that will be discussed during the Pacific Island Forum meeting.

The topics are as follows:

-Framework for Pacific Regionalism, and the 46th Pacific Island Forum Leaders meeting.

-Taking leadership, PNG’s role in promoting regionalism

- Proposed sustainable Development Goals to replace Millennium Development Goal

-Climate Change

-Small islands states

-Future of Fisheries

The Secretary General of the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat (PIFS) Dame Meg Taylor and PNG’s Foreign Affairs Minister Rimbink Pato will also be speaking at the workshop.
