Papua New Guinean artist Jokema is taking legal action against claims of intellectual property rights theft.
These claims were first published on social media and later by weekly newspaper Sunday Chronicle on Sunday 14 June titled ‘Jokema’s SP Games Joke’.
It involves the song that has been chosen as the official PNG Games theme song.
The claims, according to Sunday Chronicle, made by former foreign service officer Simon Kaumi Junior, stated that Jokema’s Pacific Games theme song ‘We are Heroes’ should be immediately ordered removed from the airwaves.
The article said the song’s “phonogram’’ or sound followed that of UK band The Wanted’s copyrighted song ‘We Own The Night’.
Jokema has denied these claims and confirmed that legal actions will be taken.
