Police in Gulf have uprooted 20 marijuana trees outside of the Malalaua station this morning.

Police in Gulf have uprooted 20 marijuana trees outside of the Malalaua station this morning.

The police acted on a tip off and managed to track down and uproot all the illegal plants on the small hidden plot of land.

Gulf police commander Silas Wayagure commended the efforts of his personnel and says that this is the start of them being more active in their roles to police on the issue of drugs in the province.

Police have also arrested two men aged 26 and 38 who were attending to the plot at the time of the raid.

Meanwhile, a man wanted for rape has also been recaptured this morning outside Kerema town.

The man was picked up by a patrol unit after they spotted him trying to get on a PMV for Port Moresby.

The man was wanted in relation to the rape of a woman in Kerema town last July but was in hiding until his detainment today.
