Failure to report death case adjourned

A case involving a man’s failure to report the death of his lover on April 18, 2015 at the Waigani District Court was adjourned to Feb 9.

Kume Keware, 33, of Sinesine District of Chimbu Province was supposed to have his lawyer inform the court on Wednesday whether he will file a response to the court finding sufficient evidence against him.

That case was adjourned because the presiding magistrate dealing with the case is on Court circuit in Alotau.

He is facing allegations that he failed to report the killing of his 'lover' after his wife, Olivia Warome had allegedly killed her in his presence.

Warome has since been committed to stand trial at the Waigani National Court for the alleged offense.

The alleged incident took place at the Five-Mile Ride in Port Moresby on April 18, 2015.

On that Saturday (April 18) he went out drinking at the White House where he returned to his cousin’s place with a woman (now deceased).

While they were asleep, his wife allegedly went to the place where they were and stabbed his 'lover' on her right chest killing her instantly while in her sleep. She later managed to escape after this.

Keware when realising his 'lover' was dead, allegedly dressed her up, put her body in his office vehicle and drove her to the back of the Telikom Rumana building where he dumped her body.

The body was later discovered by the public and taken to the Port Moresby General Hospital.

He later surrendered to police on May 3 after his relatives called and told him to report to police.

He was arrested and charged under section 301(1)(c) of the Criminal Code.
