Barras win by two wickets

The Hebou PNG Barramundis managed to get home in the final over beating Eastern Edge by two wickets in today’s round 5 match of the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) Premier League.

Chasing 260 for the win, the Barras got off to a strong start with openers Tony Ura and Vani Vagi Morea putting on an opening partnership of 79 runs.

The Barras lost the wickets of Lega Siaka (17) and Assad Vala (1) cheaply but still looked comfortable at 3/107 with Sese Bau and Morea at the crease.

Morea was eventually dismissed just after reaching his half century by Timothy Oakley.

But middle order bastman and veteran, Mahuru Dai (74) helped guide the Barras safely home to victory.

Mahuru was assisted by Bau (22) and Chad Soper who pitched in with 21 runs to his name.

The Barras reached the target in the final over for the loss of 8 wickets.
