Artists arrive in Moresby for Music Awards

Local and international artists have arrived in Port Moresby for the 12th YumiFM Digicel PNG Musik Awards set for Saturday April 30.

The event will be staged at the Lamana Gold Club with eight artists to perform on the night.

They’re Sean Rii, Tarvin Tounie, Hot Wills, Sinklaine, Demas Saul, Wah’Koo, Jokema, Solomon Islands group Dezine and the boys from PRO ED production Narxson, Iroro and Gee Ruun & Bata Bah.

Ten artists traveled into Moresby for the awards presentation night including Dezine, Uralum Kania from Rabaul, Demas Saul from Madang and the crew from PRO ED from Goroka.

Over 15 nominees will be vying for awards in 18 categories including Song of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Chart Consistency, Hall of Fame, Best Collaboration and Listeners Choice for artists, song and group.

Kasty of YumiFM said the categories have increased from initially nine to 18 categories this year to recognise the hard work of artists.

Saul, who is expected to perform hit song ‘Painim Pis’, thanked YumiFM and the fans for giving artists the opportunity to be part of the awards.

“This gives us the older artists the opportunity to meet the young artists who will be performing for the first time at the awards and also to meet our fans.

“This awards night brings us all together to share our ideas and experiences about the different style of music in PNG and promote it to the next level,” Saul said.

The artists are looking forward to the night and thank the fans for all their support.

Tickets are on sale at Lamana Hotel reception and the Paradise Cinemas, selling at K100 general and K150 balcony.
