Marketing and Fundraising manager, Hayley Chown, informed Loop PNG that the PNGCF had launched new programs and increased educational material output during the year.
“It has been a successful year. We launched our schools program, we launched our office and communities workshops, so we have managed to educate.
“I was looking at the figures for biggest morning tea and we doubled the amount of education materials that we put out from 2015 to 2016 so and the amount of morning tea’s we hosted as well.
“And there’s a real want for more of this education so more people want to get involved,” said Chown.
She said the foundation has received great support from corporate sponsors and is also working with the Department of Health.
PNGCF has four major campaigns during a year and include the ‘Biggest Morning tea’ (May), Daffodil Month (August), Pinktober (September), and the Mausgras Campaign (November).
They also run provincial programs such as free screening and awareness, as well new initiatives which are the ‘Healthy Teen Schools Program,’ ‘Cervical Cancer Education Schools,’ as well as ‘Office and Community Workshops.”
The PNGCF is looking to further their awareness campaigns next year.
