Walk the Talk against Cancer

Pink Warriors (Volunteers) for “Walk the Talk Against Cancer” Fundraising Initiative have welcomed Health Minister Micheal Malabag’s statement to make cancer services PNG’s top national priority.

The initiative has raised K100,000 since the launch of the drive in August last year.

Fundraising coordinator of “Walk the Talk Against Cancer”, Ms. Barbra Toiya, thanked Goroka Catholic Diocese and all volunteers including medical professionals who have spear headed this initiative from their heart.

“Our women are dying and we cannot wait for the government to keep on promising us services. It is time for every able professional in Papua New Guinea to contribute to this epidemic. It could be your mother or sister next,” Toiya said.

The procurement of two Cryotherapy machines is underway for Sir Joseph Nombri Memorial Kundiawa Hospital, and St Joseph’s Rural Hospital Mingendi, from the funds raised.

Walk the Talk against Cancer’s goal is to raise over K10, 000,000 (in cash or kind) within 3 years.

This will be invested in Sir Joseph Nombri Memorial Kundiawa Hospital, Goroka Hospital and St. Joseph Rural Hospital, Mingendi to establish state of the art cancer treatment facilities that cancer patients throughout PNG can access.

A corporate dinner will be hosted on 24th March at Dynasty Restaurant – Vision City Port Moresby to coincide with National Women’s Day.

Tickets are selling at K20, 000.00 a table. Proceeds from this will go towards establishment of histopathology services in Kundiawa, serving the Highlands region.
