Appeals set up for Earthquake areas

A number of relief appeals and efforts for the earthquake victims are being set up in Port Moresby.

The PRK Mendi Muruks and the Mendi Rugby League have founded the Southern Highlands Relief Fund to assist victims of these natural disasters.

This callout for donations will begin tomorrow, Saturday March 3rd, at the Apex park, in Boroko, from 3 to 5pm.

These donations will be transported to Mendi town on March 25.

Meantime, on Sunday, NCD Governor Powes Parkop, will launch another appeal for the victims.

The call out will begin on Monday, March 5, with tents set up at the NCDC City hall.

Saturday March 10, a number of musicians in Port Moresby will also host a fundraiser concert, the venue for this will be announced soon.

Proceeds from this will be forwarded to the appeal set up by the NCDC governor for the earthquake victims.

The PRK Mendi Muruks will also have two charity matches, and gate takings from that will be directed to this relief.

The first match will be between the Hela Wigmen and Mendi Muruks on March 11, at Sir John Guise.

All residents are asked to take note of these dates, and assist where possible.
